Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity and respect.

 

New Prospects - located in Bridgeport, Connecticut is uniquely positioned to offer gender-specific co-occurring enhanced intensive residential services to adult men and women. This program is designed to provide services for individuals who are experiencing difficulties stabilizing their substance abuse and mental health issues and seek short-term intensive treatment of approximately 30 days.

Saturday & Sunday from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm 

 

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Delegates, manages aspects of care to LPN, consistent with their level of education and expertise to meet clients' needs and to maximize staff performance.
  • Conduct an alcohol or other drug focused nursing assessment.
  • Oversees Nursing schedule to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Assists Medical provider by transcribing orders in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Observe and documents the self-administration of prescribed controlled and non-controlled medications and when medically indicated administer medications to treat psychiatric, substance abuse and medical issues in accordance with approved nursing techniques, program policies and procedures and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Verifies, updates, records and files doctors' orders, dosage levels and laboratory results in client records.
  •  Maintain correctly stocked medication inventory, ensure safety of medications/supplies, keep an accurate log of reports of medications.
  • Observes clients, records significant conditions and reactions, manages, and notifies supervisor or physician of any changes in client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.  Documents refusal of medication(s) and all PRNs which are administered during shift.
  • Provide medical education for clients served within the co-occurring enhanced intensive residential treatment program on an individual basis as needed and in groups periodically.  
  • Engages in ongoing training to enhance knowledge of co-occurring disorders to remain current in the field.
  • Forward all individual Kardex’s to counselors for filing at the end of each month.
  • Obtains PPD records and/or administers PPD to clients and maintains record of client.

 

 

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES 

Registered Nurse (RN) recognized in the State of Connecticut.  Previous experience in opiate treatment programming, co-occurring programming or similar community-based behavioral health organization preferred.

  • Ability to provide caring and compassionate care. 
  • Specialized judgment, skill in observation, care, and counseling of clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  •  Evaluates patient's response to interventions and revises nursing plan of care as needed. Collaborates with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives, and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.
  • Performs appropriate assessments of clients per policy and identifies physical, psychosocial, cultural needs to provide individualized care of the client.
  •  Provides direct patient care according to physician's order and appropriate protocols as evidenced by documentation in patient's medical record.
  • Evaluates and recognizes changes in patients' physical and psychosocial status and revises the plan of care as necessary.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to behavioral health clients and to interact with the interdisciplinary team to achieve the desired outcomes for clients.
  • Reflects ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2015), ANA Code of Ethics (2015)
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Nursing Services/supervisor.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES 

Current RN in the State of Connecticut required.  Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required.

Certified CPR obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date.
