POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager / Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization's financial operations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable. Responsibilities include monthly closing of the financial records, reconciliation of all accounts, and preparing comprehensive financial reports. This position also involves recommending and reviewing detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting processes and providing targeted training to select administrative staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees and directs all financial management and accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and purchasing.
- Monthly and year-end close of financial statements.
- Assists with annual audit and other audits as needed
- Formulates, recommends and implements sound fiscal policies, procedures and controls.
- Develops and implements the financial infrastructure and systems needed to support the strategic objectives determined by the board.
- Works closely with the CFO to strengthen the financial position, evaluating industry best practices, in comparison to internal systems and resources, with an eye toward both financial needs and budget realities.
- Maintains effective communication of financial position with department heads.
- Fortifies and builds the competency and strength of the administrative team to ensure that select individuals are thoroughly trained and responsible for providing backup support for accounting functions, as needed.
- Works closely with President/CEO and CFO to develop annual budgets and provides regular reporting to program management staff and board of directors during the year to review actual to projected budget.
- Ensures regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the company’s financial affairs.
- Works closely with program directors to ensure that fiscal requirements for grants and contracts are identified, realized and monitored.
- Provides training to programming and administrative staff on financial policies and procedures including cash receipts, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and budgeting as needed or requested.
- Responsible for supervising and directing the activities of direct reports.
