A Design Engineer II is responsible for designing general aviation components and systems and authoring certification reports, test plans, and analyses. They may work on existing type certified aircraft in production or on new aircraft in development. Using education and experience, they ensure that aircraft are designed and constructed to company, industry, and regulatory standards.
What you will do
Key Responsibilities include:
- Design components, sub-assemblies, and systems relative to general aviation aircraft. This involves generating concepts, developing designs, validating assumptions and data, creating 3D drawings, testing designs, and gaining relevant approvals.
- Create, issue, and revise certification programs, test plans, and reports.
- Issue and update compliance documents and reports.
- Issue Minor Change documentation.
- Collaborate with the Aircraft Certification Office (ACO) on major change approvals and monitor and provide regular status on progress to Lead and Principal Engineers.
- Maintain the change register.
- Conduct design audits with the ACO.
- Work with FAA and foreign regulators on type certificate validations.
- Using SolidWorks, create, modify, and update engineering drawings for both individual components and large, complex assemblies in accordance with company procedure manuals.
- Lead engineering teams in completing design and certification projects.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Collaborate with the production team to improve product quality, production efficiency, and workplace safety.
