Patient Intake Specialist Job Brief: The Patient Intake plays a valuable role for the company by providing accuracy in creating patient accounts and ensuring patients’ insurances as well as verifications are completed in a timely manner. This role serves as a single point of contact for the company’s patient intake vendor through the obtaining of authorizations, the identification of termed insurance policies, as well as the obtaining of referrals from insurance companies. The Patient Intake’s primary role is to serve as an advocate to ensure patients and hospitals are covered for services relating to IV infusion therapy while maintaining compliance with established standards of operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily audit of ECLAT’s work
Review, seek approval, and add new insurance as needed
Serve as a liaison between CIS and ECLAT on intake related needs
Facilitate, coordinate, & provide questions from ECLAT and team members relating to intake
Monitor verification queue
Monitor and address authorization denials
Insurance verification (online and over the phone)
Initiate and complete authorizations, pre-certifications-determinations, and referral requirements
Obtain preauthorization
Documentation of all insurance and verification correspondence
Tracking pending insurance verification and authorization requests
Reverifying patient insurance monthly as needed
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned
