Summary of Position: Under the immediate supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for meeting the organization’s hiring goals by filling open positions with talented and qualified candidates. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the full life cycle of the recruiting process; this entails sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating the interview process, performing robust onboarding and orientation, and maintaining employee records, all while ensuring employees have a pleasant experience.

 

Position Type: This position is exempt and reports to the Human Resources Director. There will also be close coordination with the VP of Human Resources as projects require, and program managers in relation to recruiting and new employee orientations.

  • Source candidates using a variety of search methods to build a robust candidate pipeline, and track recruiting efforts to analyze progress toward recruitment goals
  • Screen candidates by reviewing resumes, job applications and performing phone screenings
  • Take ownership of candidate experience by designing and managing job postings and position requirements and maintaining the agency’s standards on timely communication with applicants
  • Perform reference checks and comprehensive background checks on each candidate offered a position
  • Stay abreast of recruiting trends and best practices
  • Ensure all screening, hiring, and selection is done in accordance with employment laws and regulations
  • Perform thorough and robust orientations for new employees and continuously improve orientations to meet the increasing or changing needs of new employees, departments, and programs
  • Collaborate with the Payroll & Employee Benefits Specialist to educate new staff on agency benefits program
  • Maintain employment files/records of new and existing staff, performing random files audits annually to ensure compliance
  • Assist in the training of new staff and provide training to existing staff on best practices, changes to practice, etc. when necessary and appropriate
  • Assist with other human resource-related tasks or projects as needed and requested
  • Uphold the mission and values of VOA Illinois at all times

 

Other Duties: As assigned by supervisor.

 

Work Environment: Generally, this position operates in a professional office environment; however, this position may require some travel in and around the community by utilizing a personal vehicle or other methods of transportation. The hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; however, work day evening hours, holidays, and weekend may be required.

 

Physical Demands: Physical demands are part of the essential functions of this position. A significant amount of physical activity is required on a daily basis due to the need to move about the office. This position requires frequent communication with clients, employees, and others. The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position at times during the workday, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, possess a meticulous attention to detail, be well organized, and a strong written and oral communicator
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships built on trust
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems
  • Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods
  • Understanding of employment laws and regulations and employment equity regulations
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Is flexible and adapts to the changing needs and growth of the organization
  • Maintains the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of social service experience or experience in a relevant field.
