Description

Position Description: As an Intern at Volunteers of America, you will gain hands-on experience while working towards your
Master's degree and earning academic credits for your hours. Your role will involve supporting various projects and
initiatives that align with your field of study. Key responsibilities may include; assisting with program development and
implementation, conducting research and data analysis to support organizational goal, supporting community outreach and
engagement efforts, participating in meetings and collaborating with team members on various tasks, completing
administrative duties, such as maintaining records and preparing reports. This internship is designed to provide valuable
learning experiences, enhance your professional skills, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Support program coordination – Assist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops and outreach activities aimed at raising awareness and providing support.

  • Community Engagement – Engage with veterans and their families, fostering a supportive community and ensuring access to resources.

  • Data Management – Contribute to the collection and analysis of data to enhance program effectiveness and measure impact.

  • Administrative Assistance – Provide essential support in day-to-day administrative tasks to keep the program running smoothly.

Other DutiesAs assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Passion for supporting veterans and preventing suicide.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Sensitivity and empathy towards the unique challenges faced by veterans.

Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent at minimum.

  2. Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related field.

  3. Understanding of mental health concepts and commitment to learning more about clients' unique challenges.
