Summary of Position: Under the immediate supervision of the VP of Behavioral Health, the Therapist is responsible for providing intensive counseling and/or psychotherapy to clients and/or families.
Position Type: This position is full-time, exempt, and reports to the VP of Behavioral Health.
Base Salary Range: $55,000-$63,500 (commensurate to degree and licensure).

- Provides individual, couple, family, and group counseling or psychotherapy to clients who are primarily in the Elgin community. These sessions are either home-based or at our Elgin office. There are potential office hours at the Polk Street office in Chicago as well.
- Clients being served will present with clinical behaviors associated with homelessness, severe mental illness, substance use, mood dysregulation and trauma.
- Create individualized treatment plans based on client needs and appropriate interventions.
- Documentation for the client will be complete, timely and modified as needed.
- Establish a positive, trusting, and accepting rapport with the client.
- Acts upon own analysis of client situations under clinical supervision.
- Participates in regular group and clinical supervision meetings for consultation on the use of clinical interventions with clients.
- Reports progress on caseload to supervisor; makes written evaluation reports on the progress of each client and performs record keeping functions required by the agency.
- Participates in agency studies of particular problems or casework practices.
- Delivers services with sensitivity to the clients cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- Upholds and actively demonstrates investment in the mission and values of VOA Illinois.
Other Duties: As assigned by the VP of Behavioral Health.
Work Environment: Generally, this position operates in a professional office environment. The hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility in the schedule may be requested to accommodate client work/school schedules that may include evenings and/or weekends.
Physical Demands: Physical demands may be a part of the essential functions of this position especially as it relates to the capacity to move freely around the community in a vehicle.
