Description:.

This position seeks an energized individual who would like to make a difference in people's lives through interventions that address the root causes of poverty. This position will involve working closely with the Healthcare Partnerships Manager and the Sr. Director of Health and Nutrition to help plan, implement, maintain and evaluate current and new pilot initiatives which pair nutritious food with the critical services of healthcare. The Healthcare Pilots Specialist will move forward multiple initiatives while maintaining attention to detail. This position works across multiple departments and engages directly with external stakeholders.  This role includes taking leadership on special projects including but not limited to piloting an internal medically tailored box packing and shipping project, bolstering the nutrition education resources and tools to ensure they are honed to the specific patient populations, research on healthcare reimbursement and the tracking of grant spending. This is a time of growth and innovation for the healthcare pilots’ team and we are looking for someone who is eager to join this exciting work.
 

Essential Functions:

Project Management – 15 %

  • Work in collaboration with the Healthcare Partnerships Manager, the Nutrition Education team and pilot partners to develop food menus for healthcare pilots 
  • Research and develop documentation to track key metrics across healthcare interventions, use to compare and contrast with CAFB healthcare interventions 
  • Use national best practices in Food is Medicine interventions (FIM)to inform IRB Protocols
  • Coordinate across departments on FIM policy/1115 waiver advocacy and reimbursement model

 

Project Coordination – 65%

  • Coordinate the completion and development of new workflow templates including programmatic outlines and milestone-tracking documents 
  • Coordinate with ERP, Operations and Volunteer teams to ensure pilot foods are accurately received, stored and eventually packed based on the healthcare pilots food menus  
  • Oversee purchasing of materials and supplies for healthcare pilots  
  • Create and maintain electronic files and organization systems 
  • Track grant spending across pilots
  • Research best practices in FIM
  • Create quarterly reports for healthcare pilots

 

Communication & Customer Service – 15%

  • Develop professional communication materials and presentations for a variety of stakeholders 
  • Work with Marketing and Communications Team to develop nutrition education material toolkits that are branded and professionally produced
  • Develop and oversee patient/client end-user feedback across all pilots  
  • Develop a collaborative working relationships with internal staff and external colleagues 
  • Cultivate, develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of colleagues including but not limited to: hospital administrators, doctors and clinical staff, CAFB Operations team, food vendors, volunteers and program participants 
  • Takes initiative to ensure stakeholders are well informed and challenges and misunderstandings are addressed 

 

Miscellaneous – 5%

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least 2+ years’ experience working in an office environment and providing administrative support 
  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)  
  • Experience in meeting facilitation Excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to prioritize  
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered dietician or dietetic background
  • Experience in the healthcare sector
  • Basic understanding of evaluation and statistics
  • Experience evaluating public health interventions
  • Basic understanding of how policy impacts FIM
  • Spanish fluency
  • Experience using databases      
  • Experience with or ability to learn and navigate a variety of web-based platforms, experience with NetSuite, Partner Link, Survey Monkey a plus 
  • Highly adaptable to changes and new opportunities 
  • Understanding or experience working in a food insecure community

Other Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work professionally with diverse populations

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. 
  • Sitting/Keyboarding for up to 70% of the day 
  • Ability to travel throughout the DMV 
  • As required by the duties and responsibilities of the position. 

Reporting:

  • This role will report to the Manager of Healthcare Partnerships

Compensation:

  • 53,700 t0 57,700  / annually

 

Schedule:

  • Hybrid schedule available with a minimum of 3 days in the office.  
  • Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm; with weekends or extended hours for special events
