Requirements
- N.Y.S. Approved Certification – Students with Disabilities: Internship, Initial or Professional (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field AND valid certification issued by the State Education Department. OR
- Bachelor’s degree in an Early Childhood Education or related field AND two years of supervised and documented relevant experience in a preschool program. OR
- Proposed Plan
1. One year of “classroom experience” teaching children up to 3rd grade, if the individual has a bachelor’s degree in any other subject area
2. A plan for NYS certification within 7 years.

- Elemenary Education
- Nursey to 6th Grade Elementary Education
- Special Education
- Students with Disabilities, birth to 2nd Grade
- Students with Disabilities, 1st to 6th Grade
- Child Psychology*
- Child Development*
- General Education*
- *These fields of study are required to be accompanied by 12 credits specific to Early Childhood Education.
Physical Requirements
- Walk to and from various locations in the building.
- May lift or push wheelchairs of children being served.
- Physical intervention techniques may be required to aid the children in challenging moments.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus.
