Description

Looking for enthusiastic and attentive Assistant Recreational Specialists to support and motivate individuals with special needs. Respite is all about encouraging our groups to socialize, experience new and fun activities, while families receive the respite they need. We have part-time and per diem positions available. 

 

Position Summary: 

  • The Assistant Recreational Specialist (ARS) is responsible for implementing person-centered services for each individual. This includes ensuring the implementation of the individual’s services by offering choice.In addition, the ARS is directly responsible for the individual’s overall physical and emotional well-being. Participate in planning trips and activities based on the group’s preferences. 

  • Must be able to communicate professionally and positively with families and supervisor. 

  • Must have excellent written skills. 

  • Must be organized and submit documentation in a timely manner. 

  • Must be able to work weekends or evenings 

  • Clean driver's license with experience driving a 10 or 15 passenger van preferred 

  • One or more years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. 

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred. 

Qualifications

Minimum Education: 

High school diploma or GED 

Preferred Education: 

Associate's degree or equivalent 

Experience: 

Minimum 1 year in the field with experience 

License/Certification Needed? License 

If so, please specify: Clean driver’s license 

Requirements: 

  •  Must be able to work weekends or evenings 
  •  Experience driving a 10 or 15 passenger van preferred, with clean driving record 
  •  Responsible for planning trips and activities based on the group’s preferences. 
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and positively with families and supervisor. 
  • Must be organized and submit documentation in a timely manner 
  • Good computer skills preferred
