The nurse is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all health care services, including health education, required by the residents.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage medication.
- Oversee and supervise all direct care staff administering medication.
- Provide individual and group training to direct care staff in areas covering medication monitoring, first aid and health education.
- Communicate with family/guardian about all medical/mental health conditions, appointments and/or treatments. Engage family to accompany resident on medical appointments.
- Accompany and/or transport resident to medical appointment when appropriate.
- Oversee the general health care of the residents.
- Provide basic first aid and arrange for emergency treatment of medical and mental health emergencies.
- Provide medication training and health education to residents and staff, including prevention, medication side effects, nutrition, management of chronic health problems such as asthma or diabetes, sex education, etc.
