Heart Share Human Services of New York has four preschools located in Brooklyn and Queens focused on maximizing the potential of every student no matter the learning disability. Through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis and TEACH along with the New York State Common Core curriculum each student is provided with an education experience geared towards their needs. The Heart Share Preschool also provides different therapies and physical education courses geared to what the students want and need. The Heart Share Preschool is also a family and community that strive to help each other out with a common goal of helping the children succeed. These are necessary steps to create the impact we are looking for which is provided them the keys to succeed on their own in the future. The Heart Share preschool operates as a 12-month program.

 

The Substitute Teacher Aide, is an important part of the classroom and works with the Special Education Teacher and the Teacher's Assistant to create a smooth classroom experience for each child. The Teacher Aide reports directly to the Educational Director. Some of the duties the Teacher includes:

  • Assists classroom teacher with non-instructional duties.
  • Participates in classroom team meetings and department and school-wide meetings.
  • Reviews lesson plans with teacher. Sets up PBIS morning routine and learning centers throughout the day.
  • Maintains a clean classroom. Escorts children to and from the bus. Participates in all drills, ensuring the safety of the children.
  • Participates in trainings to maintain ASPIRE account and works toward obtaining NYS Teacher Assistant Certification.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 or more years of Experience working with young children, preferable in Special Education
