Job Summary:
The Toddler Room Lead Teacher at Killington Resort's childcare center is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for either our 2-year-old room or 3+ year old room. This position leads the daily operations of the assigned toddler classroom, ensuring a nurturing, educational environment for both our local families with recurring care needs and guests visiting our mountain resort. The Lead Teacher develops and implements curriculum, supervises assistant teachers, and maintains a safe, stimulating environment that supports toddlers' natural curiosity and development.

The childcare center is open 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 7-days/week December-March and Monday-Friday April-November. Employees in this position receive free childcare for their dependent children on days they are working.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Design, plan, and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities for toddlers that promote development across all domains
  • Incorporate early literacy, numeracy, and science concepts through engaging, play-based approaches
  • Create daily schedules and routines that balance structured activities, free play, outdoor time, and rest periods
  • Guide and mentor caregivers in implementing curriculum and behavior management strategies
  • Learn, understand, and consistently adhere to all Vermont childcare licensing regulations and early learning standards
  • Create a warm, inviting classroom environment with engaging learning centers
  • Manage classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Ensure classroom cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards
  • Build positive relationships with both recurring families and vacation guests
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding children's development, activities, and needs
  • Create documentation to share daily activities and learning experiences with families
  • Adapt communication approaches to meet the needs of both regular and visiting families
  • Address parent questions and concerns professionally, referring complex issues to management
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, incidents, and other required documentation
  • Collaborate with the Childcare Manager and Supervisor on program improvements
  • Assist with special events and other childcare center activities
  • Contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the childcare center
  • Work cooperatively with other caregivers and room leads
  • Communicate effectively about children's needs during shift changes
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Assist with daily cleaning tasks and help maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the facility

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Meet minimum qualifications for a Teacher Associate or Teacher per Vermont DCF regulations. Email childcare@killington.com for information or assistance assessing your qualifications.
  • Certified in pediatric first aid and in infant and child CPR
  • Experience working with children ages 2-6 years
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on floor, and actively engage with children
