Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction and/or renewable energy safety management.
Certification: OSHA 30 certification is required (OSHA 500 or higher is preferred).
Education: A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills: Proficient in safety management software (e.g., Procore, Hammertech, SharePoint). Strong computer and organizational skills are essential.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction and renewable energy safety regulations, including OSHA, MIOSHA, and industry-specific standards.
Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to access and inspect various work areas, including construction sites, where physical activity (e.g., walking, standing) is required.

Role and ResponsibilitiesÂ
Â
- Safety Program Implementation & Management: Plan, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs on commercial construction and renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with both company standards and industry regulations.
- Field Inspections & Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Address unsafe working conditions or behaviors promptly through corrective actions, safety stand-downs, or work stoppages, as necessary.
- Safety Training & Compliance: Lead safety training sessions for site personnel and subcontractors, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols. Topics may include fall protection, confined space entry, electrical safety, and equipment operation.
- Subcontractor Safety Management: Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, including pre-task plans, crane lifts, excavation, steel erection, and fall protection. Ensure that all subcontractors comply with site-specific safety requirements.
- Accident & Incident Documentation: Document all safety violations, accidents, and unsafe activities. Ensure accurate reporting and filing of all necessary records and reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and corporate safety directors to communicate and enforce safety standards. Lead safety walk-throughs with owners and regulatory agencies during inspections.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and recommend improvements to the safety program based on incident trends, field observations, and changes in regulations.
