Description

The Norton Museum of Art Summer Internship Program provides two graduate students with the opportunity to gain practical art museum experience, engage in intellectual discourse, and develop professional skills. Through the seven-week program summer interns will:

  • Work with the Learning and Community Engagement Department and other departments throughout the Museum based on needs.
  • Lead gallery talks in special exhibitions and the Museum Collection for visitors of all ages.
  • Help to manage education programs such as Art After Dark and assist in the planning of future programs. Please note: Programs may include occasional nights and weekends.
  • Conduct art historical research about future exhibitions and the Norton Collection.
  • Engage in weekly readings, writing assignments, and discussions with staff about current art historical and museum-related issues.

Terms and Eligibility

The program is open to Art, Art Education, Art History, and Museum Studies Graduate students at any accredited U.S. college or university. All applicants must have successfully completed at least four college-level courses in art history. Interns will be paid biweekly at an hourly rate of $17/hr and may be provided shared housing if needed in West Palm Beach, FL.

Internship Dates: June 9, 2025 – July 25, 2025

· A typewritten personal statement of no more than 500 words describing how this experience will help you to achieve your future goals.

· Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references

Letters must be sealed and signed across the flap by the recommender.

Letters can be mailed with your application or emailed separately for receipt by April 11, 2025

· Resume and Cover Letter

· Official college transcript from your current institution.
