The Norton Museum of Art Public Programs Internship is a paid, part-time, semester-long opportunity that provides one undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Public Programs in a museum while working with a team of museum professionals.
Internship Dates: January 9-May 31, 2025. 22 weeks
16 hours per week, including Friday afternoons and evenings from 2pm-10pm. Additional hours are flexible to accommodate the individual’s schedule.
Program Duties
Responsibilities during Art After Dark:
- Assist Adult Programs Manager in coordinating evening programs by interfacing with a variety of stakeholders including performers, artists, the public, and Norton staff.
- Collect attendance data and evaluation surveys at each program offered each Friday Night and reporting numbers after each program.
- Assist with Art After Dark set up and break down.
- Help Open Studio Teaching Artist during Art After Dark.
- Support volunteers during evening programs.
Responsibilities during office hours:
- Help to plan and execute Adult Programs with the Director of Adult Learning and Engagement and Adult Programs Manager.
- Order materials for workshops or programs when needed.
- Assist Public Programs team with other projects, as needed.
- Assist with artist research for upcoming exhibitions and future programming needs.
