The Grove’s vision is that we are Being Changed By God to Reach All People.  Small groups and church-wide discipleship efforts are primary ways we pursue life change. The Small Groups & Discipleship Pastor brings high level vision and direction to launching and developing new groups and initiatives, seeking to get people connected to the church and grow in their relationship with Christ.  This position requires an extremely high capacity for galvanizing and aligning leaders. The Small Groups & Discipleship Pastor serves as a member of The Grove’s Pastoral Team, integrating church vision, mission and values within the context of groups and discipleship programs.


          Works with:         Small group leaders; Adult Education teachers; Pastoral Team

          Works:                  Full time, 40 hours per week, exempt

SMALL GROUPS – 40%                                        

  • Provide vision, strategy and direction to Small Group leaders.
  • Recruit, develop and train new group leaders.
  • Maintain communication with volunteers to ensure overall health and effectiveness.
  • Develop appropriate systems to keep group leaders informed, growing and aligned.
  • Visit groups to evaluate and provide feedback and mentor leaders.
  • Serve as point of contact for complex or difficult group issues.
  • Work closely with Men’s Ministry and Women’s Ministry leadership in developing small groups vision and strategy.

DISCIPLESHIP – 40%

  • Oversee Changed discipleship group process; provide leadership and direction to Changed group leaders.
  • Raise up new Changed leaders; empower new leaders with vision and inspiration.
  • Develop a team of volunteer teachers for Adult Education classes.
  • Continually develop and evaluate approaches to effective discipleship.

OTHER MINISTRY– 20%

  • Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
  • Participate in general ministry and initiatives; perform pastoral visits, discipleship, counseling, weddings and funerals.
  • Attend ministry staff meetings, church all-staff meetings, devotions and trainings; lead staff devotions.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Seminary or Bible School education; Masters degree or higher required
