Description

General Description:  The primary objective of this position is to work with the Executive Director to secure resources of food, time, money, and voice through special events and food and fund drives. This individual will manage all the New Braunfels Food Bank’s signature special events and other events as assigned. Annual fundraising targets will be determined by the Executive Director for this position. The Development Manager works to secure volunteers and stewards a volunteer group portfolio. This position will also be involved as a team leader for the tours and presentations, cause related marketing, 3rd party events, and other special promotions as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the planning, logistics, and execution of all signatures special events including but not limited to Locally Grown, Doing Good on the Green Golf Tournament and other events as assigned.
  • Coordinate with transportation for the pickup and delivery of all food drives and third-party events.
  • Responsible as the department lead for the planning, logistics, and execution of both Culinary Graduations as it pertains to donor touches.
  • Work with the Executive Director to research, plan, solicit, and steward all income related to the above special events and food and fund drives.
  • Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means, including invoicing donors when requested.
  • Identify potential sources for support for all events as well as brainstorm other special events that could be beneficial.
  • Develop relationships and make solicitations to procure volunteer hours and other engagement strategies from corporations, schools, clubs and other organizations. 
  • Develop and maintain a “Plan of Action” for all areas of responsibility, including both short and long-range goals and objectives, and then work the plan. Provide written status reports to Executive Director.
  • Select, train, and manage a special event intern and volunteers to assist in completion of all special event tasks, as well as share duties with Food & Fund Drive Coordinator, as needed.
  • Support all Community events that raise both money and food which include New Braunfels Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Executive Director and the Chief Development Officer.
  • Personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for employee groups, service organizations, religious groups, and others, as directed by the Executive Director (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
  • Represent the New Braunfels Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community.
  • Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Maintain Salesforce donor database for NBFB donor base.

 

Qualifications

  • College degree in relevant field plus two years development experience or relevant work experience.
  • Work experience in fund development and marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in computer applications i.e., word processing, and spreadsheet/database management.
  • Good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and self.
  • Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Night and weekend work is required and routine.
  • Personal vehicle is required.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
