Driver Class C w/ Box Truck Experience

General Description: This position is responsible to pick up and secure all food and grocery item donations. The employee is also responsible for the distribution of food and grocery items to agencies in the service area.

Essential Functions:

• Pick up food from local donors as scheduled.
• Unload donated product to on-site feeding facilities.
• Provide initial donation receipt with proper signatures to donors and recipients.
• Weigh, classify and warehouse donated product according to acceptable warehousing practices.
• Provide backup donation receipt daily to Transportation Coordinator for data entry and provides mileage logs, vehicle inspection logs.
• Cleans and audits vehicle as required.
• Ensure maintenance of vehicles is accomplished as necessary.
• Keep current driver license, food handler certification, material handling equipment license or certification and any other permit/license required to perform duties.
• Always acts as an ambassador of the San Antonio Food Bank when conducting business with Donors, potential donors, partner agencies and donation recipients.
• Always acts and performs in a safe manner. 
• Accepts additional duties as assigned.
• Work schedule – Monday to Friday and some special events on evenings or weekends as needed.

• High School degree or equivalent
• Experience driving a 24' box truck preferred
• Class C license
• Willing to work Monday through Friday and some special events on evenings or weekends as needed
• Forklift and/or Pallet Truck experience required; certification preferred
• Attention to detail, accuracy and the meeting of deadlines
• Possession of a current Texas driver's license, clean driving record, and current vehicle insurance
• Thorough understanding of and strict adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, rules, and requirements

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects with hand and arms; talk and hear.  Able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily indoors but may require attendance at events that are held outdoors. The outdoor work environment may have diverse weather conditions at times, such as severe heat and cold.   The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
