JOB TITLE: Music Teacher

REPORTS TO: School Administrator

STATUS: Full Time Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm

LOCATION: Erlanger, KY

The music teacher will provide basic vocal and instrumental instruction for a variety of musical styles, working with students either privately or in groups. The teacher will work within a specials classroom setting and introduce pupils to simple music concepts, such as beat, rhythm and pitch, as well as teach them how to read musical notes and symbols. The teacher will also help students prepare for musical performances such as fine arts performances, the annual Christmas program, and other school programs. 

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle and in full agreement with the school’s statement of faith. He/she is expected to understand and live out a biblical worldview in all areas and able to teach that worldview in the classroom. He/she must maintain and teachable spirit while demonstrating patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his/her day-to-day duties. The teacher shall be one who feels called of God to the teaching profession.  He/she must be devoted to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop and maintain a school which is thoroughly Christian and academically exceptional. The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the glory of God.

This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. Qualifications

Requirements

  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40).
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, faculty, parents, and administration.
  • Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and to grow in their faith.
  • Possess the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff to develop a unified and successful educational program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions.
  • Be willing to eagerly participate in professional development.
  • Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that task.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy.
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority. Teachers should notify the administration of any policy he/she is unable to support. Teachers should also be willing to provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.

The teacher will be expected to:

  • Plan and prepare lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning by:

  • Have high standards of professionalism and expectations as seen by:
    • Reflecting on teaching for accuracy and use in future teaching

    • Having a teachable spirit
    • Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school
    • Supervise students in different settings as needed, including recess, the cafeteria, the classroom, in assemblies, and on field trips
    • Representing the school in a favorable and professional manner
    • Maintaining the highest integrity and ethical conduct as Scripture commands
    • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the School Administrator
  • Partnering with the families and building a rapport by:
    • Communicating on a regular basis with parents/guardians keeping them updated and engaged in the happenings in the classroom, the instructional program, and their individual child
    • Using parents as a resource
    • Actively encourage parents to contact me if they have any questions or concerns
    • Sending out a weekly newsletter
    • Collaborating with parents to develop approaches to helping students both at school and at home as needed
  • Have a thorough understanding of biblical worldview and apologetics and implement in the classroom by:
    • Starting with the Scriptures in all areas
    • Utilizing materials that are approved
    • Open classes with prayer, and pray during the day with and for students
    • Refuting false religions
    • Clearly presenting the Biblical account
    • Classroom environments need to reflect biblical teaching
    • Connecting all subject to the Bible and looking at each subject considering God’s Word

Education & Experience

  • It is expected for the teacher to:
    • Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
    • Have completed student teaching and/or other educational field experience.
  • It is preferred (but not necessary) for the teacher to:
    • Have two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
