Seasonal Horticulture Technician

Seasonal Horticulture Technician participates in grounds maintenance practices to ensure guests are exposed to attractive natural settings, beautiful garden displays and park-like settings. This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion. Responsibilities

• Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
• Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
• Approach all tasks with a second-mile mindset
• Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments
• Perform assigned functions such as potting, watering, fertilizing, pinching, weeding, etc.
• Follow safety regulations.
• Assist Grounds Maintenance and Site Development teams as needed (i.e. Christmas lights, snow removal, etc)
• And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith
• Knowledge of standard horticultural and grounds keeping practices, the use and maintenance of grounds keeping tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform general gardening and grounds keeping work, use and maintain tools and equipment, follow written and verbal instructions, perform heavy manual labor, perform basic landscaping functions, learn specialized procedures related to irrigation systems, lake management, equipment, landscaping, pesticide applications, etc.
• This position will require lifting 50-80 pound objects, frequent bending, walking and standing, exposure to a variety of weather conditions for extended periods of time, exposure to chemicals which may present health hazards if not handled properly, exposure to potentially dangerous power and hand operated equipment.

• Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
• Excellent time management skills

Education & Experience

• Any combination of education or job-related experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities to perform tasks.
• Valid drivers license required.
