American Academy (AA) is accepting applications for a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) for the 2025-26 academic year to deliver special education services for both mild to moderate needs students in a K-8 setting 2 days per week. This position would be located at all three AA campuses.
Responsibilities
- Complete eligibility educational assessments.
- Participate in the development of the IEP evaluation, goals and objectives, and accommodations/modifications which are relevant to a child’s needs in the educational environment.
- Provide direct and indirect O.T. intervention where appropriate in the educational setting.
- Collaborate and share expertise on targeted interventions.
- Communicate with teachers and parents regarding student performance.
- Evaluate, document, and communicate progress toward student goals.
- Support staff in their ability to observe fine and gross motor, visual-motor, sensory motor, and visual perceptual deficits which may be interfering in the educational process of a student.
- Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team working in cooperation with parents, other support services, educational staff and administration personnel.
- Attend meetings such as IEP meetings, staff meetings, in-services, etc.
Requirements
- CDE Special Services Provider license- School Occupational Therapist (0-21)
- Proven ability to integrate special needs children and modify and adapt curriculum.
- Vision for developing a high functioning special education team with psychologist, social worker, nurse, occupational therapist, learning specialist, and/or speech and language therapist.
- Report out and disaggregate student data and progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents.
- Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
