American Academy has a full-time opening for a Special Education (SPED) Learning/Intervention Specialist for the 2025-26 academic year to deliver special education services for both mild to moderate needs students in a K-8 setting at our Lincoln Meadows campus.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of Individual Education Plans
- Completing eligibility educational assessments
- Collaborate and share expertise on targeted interventions
- Communication with teachers and parents regarding student performance
- Adaptation of curriculum
- Direct instruction of students
- Evaluate progress toward student academic and personal goals
- Attend meetings such as IEP meetings, staff meetings, in-services, etc.
- Facilitate RtI process
Requirements
- CDE Teaching License with endorsements in Teacher 1-Moderate Needs or Special Education Generalist or Special Education Specialist.
- Previous experience educating students with learning disabilities
- Proven ability to integrate special needs children and modify and adapt curriculum
- Ability to adapt and differentiate lessons in all content areas
- Vision for developing a high functioning special education team with psychologist, social worker, nurse, occupational therapist, and/or speech and language therapist
- Report out and disaggregate student data and progress
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students and parents
- Strong classroom management skills
