American Academy, the largest charter school in Douglas County, operates three campuses and serves over 2,500 students. We are dedicated to academic excellence and providing a supportive environment for students, parents, and staff. We are currently seeking an accomplished and visionary Executive Director of Schools (EDS) to lead our organization of over 300 employees. The EDS will be pivotal in advancing our mission, ensuring academic, intellectual, and emotional growth for our students, as well as driving the overall success and growth of our organization.


Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Schools (EDS) oversees the educational, business, fundraising, and strategic vision for American Academy, aligning with the Board's directives and high student-centric standards. The EDS reports directly to the American Academy Board of Directors.

American Academy is seeking an Executive Director of Schools (EDS) with proven abilities in strategizing, planning, and executing a comprehensive, mission-focused vision through effective team leadership. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence and delivering an outstanding student-centric educational experience. They must possess a strong track record in leadership, management, and relationship-building with staff, parents, students, and key stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Must have an undergraduate degree, with an advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience developing and managing a team. Previous executive management experience is preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of charter school operations, finance, and educational standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to engage with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Proven experience in financial oversight, budget management, and resource allocation.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of American Academy.
  • Comfortable delivering presentations to external stakeholders, including elected officials and the media.
