Elmbrook's vision is to help people become Rooted in Jesus Christ and Released to His mission in our homes, communities, and world. Working under the direction of the Senior Pastor, the Communications Director oversees the promotional activities and messaging for Elmbrook ministries across all campuses, including weekend worship services. Ensuring both a coherent communication strategy and generating timely communication pieces is paramount.

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the design, organization, and development of the Elmbrook.org website and the mobile application. Ensure that all content is targeted, effective, accurate, and up to date.
  • Collaborate with the worship team to ensure accurate communications around Sunday worship services, video announcement scripts, storytelling, brand management, and slides.
  • Design and execute a strategy of regular in-person communications for the gathered Elmbrook community, including Sunday morning announcements, quarterly 10:10 Church Reports, and annual Family Meetings.
  • Develop Elmbrook logo wear for sale in the church bookstore and online.
  • Oversee the communication department in developing digital and print collateral for ministry, events, and all-church communications.
  • Participate as an active member of a social media team that disseminates regular, targeted communications over multiple platforms.
  • Participate as needed on the Sermon Series Creative Team, developing and implementing graphical elements, videos, bumpers, and other creative elements to augment the teaching series and/or seasonal themes.
  • Oversee the production of regular ministry emails and weekly, all-church emails.
  • Work with the Senior Associate Pastor annually to review leases, maintenance, and material costs for the Print shop, adjusting pricing to ensure a break-even or better financial position.
  • Provide leadership, support, and discernment regarding workloads and personal growth for all communications department members (presently 2.75 FTEs).
  • Provide direction and collaboration with the video specialist on any video items being produced within the department.
  • Represent the communications department as a part of the ministry lead team.
  • Provide promotional plans for all events/classes/happenings in collaboration with other ministries.
  • Act as a liaison between Elmbrook and the media in the event of emergencies or happenings that are of interest to news outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Articulate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing relationship with Him.
  • Indicate commitment to the mission and vision of Elmbrook Church, attend weekly worship service, and participate in the membership class.
  • Demonstrate humility, a teachable spirit, and integrity, working effectively with ministry teams across all functions—leadership, operations, missions, and ministries.
  • Exhibit warm, caring interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop and maintain strong relational connections within the congregation.
  • Degree in communications, media, or related field, OR 3+ years of experience in church communication or related environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite use and application, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Working knowledge of website content management with a demonstrated ability to supervise others responsible for developing content.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to create media and work products that influence, instruct and inspire others to action

 

Employment Information

This position is full-time, salaried and classified as exempt 40 hours/week.  

Salary – dependent on experience, skills & education

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO.  PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details. 

 

403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Entry dates for the 403b plan are the first of the month following the date of hire.  On an employee’s first anniversary, Elmbrook will match up to 2%.

 

Holidays – Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

Reporting Structure

The Communications Director will be accountable and report directly to the Senior Pastor of  Elmbrook Church.
