NIKA is hiring for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to support the Defense Health Agency’s Engineering division in San Antonio, TX!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design fire protection systems
  • Plan and direct engineering activities projects
  • Conduct building fire protection, code and life safety evaluations
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations
  • Performing site surveys, submittal reviews, inspections, responds to RFIs, and generating punch lists and Life Safety Code drawings for hospitals and other medical treatment facilities for the Defense Health Agency.
  • Assist facility managers with maintenance issues associated with compliance for healthcare environments, life safety related equipment, and operations of facilities to ensure patient safety and documentation of compliance related work orders.

 

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated practical experience in the healthcare field. Three (3) years of this experience must have occurred within the last four (4) years. Practical experience is defined has having the direct responsibility for execution of design, maintenance, or major repair of fire protection systems supporting institutional, industrial, or medical healthcare campuses.
  • AutoCAD experience and/or experience with Revit required
  • Experience with at least one of the three branches of service
  • Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to obtain security clearance is required
  • Travel approximately 6-12 times per year
