Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department including:
- Monthly client invoicing
- Validate Billing data against contracts and Government Task Orders
- Verifying the accuracy of supporting data for invoices and other accounting documents or records.
- Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions. Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs.
- Compile data and prepare a variety of reports and prepare assigned monthly closing journal entries.
- Assist with preparing of bank reconciliations
- Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers
- Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies
- Investigates questionable data
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as accounts receivable
Other Duties:
- Back up to Payroll processing
- Back up to Accounts Payable processing
- Assist Payroll/AP Administrator with comparing vendor/subcontractor contract values against vendor bills
- Assist Payroll/AP Administrator with review of data and entries prepared by Payroll/AP Administrator
- Contract/Project maintenance
Education, Training, and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- 3-5 years of general accounting experience required
- Microsoft Dynamics or Unanet software experience highly desired
- Billing in automated accounting system environment experience necessary
- Some experience with project/GL coding of accounts payable and credit card bills
- Government contracting experience a plus
