Asphalt Green is looking to hire an experienced Security Supervisor for our Upper East Side campus located at 1750 York Avenue at East 91st St.  The site is 5.5 acres with two buildings and multiple outdoor public spaces. We are a non-profit organization focused on sports, fitness and play. We offer programs, classes and camps for adults and children. The site is busy with members, guests and programs users 365 days a year.  

The Security Supervisor oversees daily operations including the supervision of third-party, contracted security personnel coordinating the daily schedule of guards and ensures that all guards are performing their duties as expected. 

  

NOTE: This is an on-site role with a schedule of Tuesday through Saturday 1pm to 8pm.  There is no negotiation on this schedule.  There will be a need for occasional weekend work to support Asphalt Green special events.   

  

Responsibilities: 

 

• Conducts regular/frequent rounds ensuring that third-party security officers are in proper uniform, at post locations and that officers are carrying out their specified duties during opening, closing, and business hours. 

 

• Instructs officers on their job requirements and observes activities on post and patrol areas ensuring compliance with all security and safety policies and procedures. 

 

• Patrols the buildings and property of the facilities at various times during a shift. Patrols include the reporting on potential fire safety issues, inspections of electronic security systems, identifying unauthorized persons, providing employee or visitor escorts, and conversing with employees on security issues. 

 

• Responds to situations involving security issues. Maintains daily records and documents on any incidents in detailed written reports. 

 

• Prepares reports on shift activities, incidents, and statistics; make decisions related to the supervision of the shift, uses good judgment in administering decisions, and communicates appropriately to all Security and other departmental staff. 

 

• Reviews shift reports including incident reports, email, logbooks, and all other reports and notices following up as necessary. 

 

• Checks all department equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure that the equipment is available and in good working order including computer / software systems, keys, radios, intercoms and any other equipment necessary to provide security services. 

 

• Acts in absence of the Director of Safety and Security. 

 

• Assists the Director of Security in scheduling additional coverage for special events such as summer camp, evening, and weekend programs 

 

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in physical security fields preferably with management / supervisor responsibilities. 
  • Licensed New York State Security Guard. 
  • Basic Life Support certifications to include CPR and AED or be willing to obtain 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office, Outlook 
  • Law Enforcement and/or Military experience is a plus 
  • Fire safety certifications are a plus (F03, F89, etc.)
