Job Summary

Leads all aspects of Onward Robotics' supply chain. Your primary focus is to ensure reliable and timely supply of components while simultaneously managing material costs. This role will also lead the selection and coordination of a contract manufacturing organization.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, and evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in the factory.
  • Leads the selection and coordination of work with a contract manufacturing organization.
  • Maintains the required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; identifies and drives improvements to increase the efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
  • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
  • Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to the consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
  • Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials as well as considerations for design for manufacturability.
  • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
  • Leads and coordinates discussions with suppliers and engineers regarding detailed designs to be procured.
  • Hires and trains departmental personnel.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the supply chain department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience working with contract manufacturing organizations
  • Experience with procurement of highly technical, electronic components
  • Proven ability in not only leading teams and executing processes, but building teams and creating processes

 

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of effective experience in Materials Management as a Materials Manager, Demand Planning Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Purchasing Manager. Experience in leading all materials related aspects of New Product Introduction required.
  • Must be fluent in a mid-size ERP driven environment. Experience with ERP implementation required.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a good understanding of the legal dimension of contracts, experience driving supply contracts to closure and in contract management of high value components.
  • Practical knowledge of cost accounting and the financial management of RAW, WIP and FGI inventory.
  • Detail oriented with a systems outlook. Good analytical and structured problem solving skills.
  • Effective and proactive communications skills across all levels of the internal and Supplier organizations. Aggressive in seeking out information necessary to complete your work.

 

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • BS degree in Materials Management, Operations Analysis or Business. Technical military training from any service branch will meet this requirement if you can demonstrate relevance.
