Job Summary

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading Onward Robotics’ Program Management activity and overseeing the coordination of complex projects across engineering, operations, and client teams.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive and coordinate software and hardware development initiatives along with manufacturing, validation, and deployment activities to ensure timely and effective commercial launches and releases of complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Track and report status, decision requests and risks for complex, cross-functional projects against budget and timeline objectives.
  • Lead and coach cross-functional teams in planning and delivery of key initiatives including the identification and mitigation of any gaps in program execution.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for program-level questions and issues that may arise.
  • Develop, optimize, and scale program management capabilities, including tools, processes, and best practices to support effective management and execution of programs.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to establish and iterate “right-sized” new product development processes that drive alignment, simplify execution, and improve quality and efficiency of product development programs.

 

 

Typical Day:

  • Morning Syncs and Prioritization- Begin your day with a cross-functional team stand-up to align on project milestones, address blockers, and ensure the team is moving toward key deliverables.
  • Program Strategy- Regularly revisit timelines, budgets, and resources to adapt to evolving needs without compromising quality.
  • Stakeholder Engagement- Host weekly program updates for leadership and customers, providing clear, concise reports on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. You excel at translating technical progress into actionable insights.
  • Problem-Solving- Address unforeseen challenges, from shifting timelines to resource bottlenecks. Your ability to triage issues while keeping the big picture in focus is essential to maintaining momentum.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement- Develop frameworks and workflows to improve how projects are managed and delivered. Maintain meticulous documentation for project artifacts, decisions, and lessons learned.
  • Team Empowerment- Work closely with team leads to mentor and empower engineers, fostering an environment where innovation and accountability thrive.
  • Wrap-Up and Reflection- End your day by reviewing progress against weekly goals, documenting takeaways from meetings, and ensuring the next steps are clear and actionable for all stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Experience as a Program Manager or Technical Project Manager leading complex projects involving both software and hardware engineering activities.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

 

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Program Manager or Technical Project Manager leading complex projects involving both software and hardware engineering activities.

 

 

Preferred Experience Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with AMR or other robotic deployments in warehouse or industrial settings
  • Experience in a start-up environment
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian products (Confluence, JIRA)

 

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Computer Engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Science or Business Administration
