About this opportunity:
The Director of Residential Services is required to oversee, develop, administer, and evaluate all activities of the Center of Hope, including the Emergency Shelter, Veterans Intensive Case Management Shelter Program, and White Flag, by the stated purposes and within The Salvation Army general social services policies and procedures, state and government regulations as well as contract funding requirements. The Director will oversee the execution of the programs in such a manner as to ensure that the program has a clear structure, policies and procedures, enhancing the successful stabilization of guests and their exits to permanent housing. The DRS will provide one-on-one supervision of case managers, housing manager and other positions as needed. The DRS will report directly to the corps officers and work side-by-side with the director of social services. The DRS is responsible for the overall management and functioning of the shelter, including promoting a hospitable environment.
Key responsibilities:
Resident Services (95%)
Provide one-on-one supervision to staff providing coaching and case management weekly, reviewing case files for compliance and content. Provide training opportunities for shelter team, including certification renewals. Coordinate scheduling to ensure coverage is sufficient. Discusses personnel issues with officers; addresses vacancies in programs, and personnel evaluations, approving requests for all personnel and approving all new hires and voluntary terminations or resignations in consultation with the officers. Conducts performance evaluations.
Establish short and long-term goals for the excellent functioning of the Center of Hope. Establish a reality-based plan to work toward achieving the goals.
Identify, cultivate, and manage resources that help achieve organizational goals, including non-profit service providers, government agencies, donors, and volunteers. Work closely with the Corps Officer and Director of Social Services & Community Engagement to provide content for grant applications and reports.
Match resources to identified resident needs, establish partnership roles and responsibilities, monitor program delivery, and track outcomes. Evaluate and assess the outcome of resident services programs and develop pathways to success. Prepare and manage budgets.
Conduct daily resident meetings. Ensure that strong programming is available to guests, utilizing community resources as well as SA programs and opportunities. Ensure coaching hours are being utilized by emergency shelter guests and case management sessions are being utilized by VA guests. Support a positive sense of community and mutual respect between residents, staff, and others.
Ensure that the facility is organized, clean and maximizing space in all areas. Work closely with the executive director and director of social services to ensure plans are in place for improvements, repairs, etc. Work closely with other team members to provide updates and stay on track with repairs needed, equipment issues and needs, compliance requirements and the like.
Participate in meetings and other community events and groups that enhance the program’s capacity as feasible to the betterment of The Salvation Army’s functioning.
Work closely with the volunteer coordinator and executive director to provide safe opportunities for volunteers to support the mission and function of the Center of Hope.
Enhance The Salvation Army’s overall mission and ministry through sharing insight and updates through the executive huddle and advisory board engagement.
Delegate responsibilities to team members and oversee their work. Coach team members to learn new skills and/or develop existing skills.
Facilitate a healthy work environment. Promote the safety of all – guests and staff, at all times. Complete incident reports procedures and insurance claims in a timely manner.
Provide on-call services up to three times a week, as staffing allows.
Perform other duties as needed.
