POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief of Staff is a key strategic advisor and operational partner to the CEO, playing a pivotal role in aligning executive initiatives, leading critical projects, and representing the organization in the community. This position is responsible for streamlining high-importance projects and conducting leadership level internal and external initiatives that have significant impact on the organization’s objectives. This is a leadership position requiring strategic thinking, poise, and influence. The Chief of Staff is a self-starter who is resourceful, well-spoken, and grounded, with the interpersonal savvy to engage with diverse stakeholders—from employees to elected officials and Board members. This role requires someone who is deeply adaptable, culturally intuitive, and capable of building and maintaining momentum across a variety of complex, high-stakes initiatives. Salary negotiable.

Strategic and Executive Support:
1.   Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the CEO.
2.   Develop, edit and/or approve communications and presentations to support the CEO
3.   Manages and develops executive administrative staff and other staff within the office of the CEO
4.   Manage the CEO’s calendar with a strategic lens, prioritizing based on impact and alignment with agency goals.
5.   Drive operational efficiency within the CEO’s office, leveraging systems to stay organized and forward-thinking.
6.   Provide leadership and oversight on special projects as assigned by the CEO.
Organizational Leadership
7.   Operate at a tactical, strategic and operational level, handling the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility.
8.   Lead organizational leadership development initiatives.
9.   Collaborate closely with the executive team to advance organization’s strategic plan, operational planning, and ongoing organizational priorities.
10.   Monitor for and identify priorities that require senior leadership focus especially as relates to strategic plan, mission, vision, core values and employee engagement.
11.   Support the productivity of leadership meetings by owning the planning, agenda, and follow-up, ensuring all time spent together is highly effective and there is clear ownership and follow-through from the team.Â
12.   Assist in managing deliverables of the executive team. Drive operational and planning processes to completion in partnership with the executive team and the broader organization
Governance and Board Engagement
13.   Serve as a key liaison between the CEO and the Board of Directors.
14.   Help manage Board development, onboarding, and engagement.
15.   Support board engagement activities, and edit all communications to the Board.
Public Affairs and Communications
16.   Represent the agency to elected officials, government staff, and civic stakeholders.
17.   Monitor and track developments at the local government level that impact agency operations.
18.   Maintain a strong public presence for the CEO, advising on what events, meetings, and opportunities to attend—or avoid.
19.   Contribute to brand positioning and public messaging, ensuring clarity and consistency in voice.
20.   Represent the CEO internally and externally, embodying the agency’s voice and tone in community forums and stakeholder meetings.
Operational Leadership
21.   Serve as an ambassador to the organization, building relationships with Board, staff, participants, etc. and proactively engaging with all team members in both a virtual and in-person environment to further the organization’s goals.
22.   Partner with department leads to bring corporate culture to life, serving on cross-departmental teams and initiatives to increase interdepartmental collaboration
REQUIREMENTS
1.   Education: Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Non-Profit, Business Management or related fields is required.
2.   Experience: Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience, with at least three years in a strategic or chief of staff-type role supporting senior executives.
3.   Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - comfortable presenting, persuading, and engaging diverse audiences.
4.   Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills; adept at managing multiple, cross-functional initiatives.
5.   Demonstrated ability to lead with integrity, build consensus, and represent an organization with poise and professionalism.
6.   Skilled in community relations, government affairs, or public engagement highly preferred.
