Summary

The Director of Sales will lead and manage the sales team to ensure the growth and success of the company’s product offerings within designated territories. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans, driving revenue growth, and managing key customer relationships. The Director of Sales will oversee the sales cycle from lead generation to closing, mentor and motivate the sales team, and ensure that all sales goals and organizational missions are met. The role will also involve coordinating with other departments, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining compliance with company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Leadership:
    • Develop and implement sales strategies that align with the company’s mission and objectives, focusing on expansion in the industrial sector.
    • Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team, ensuring they have the resources and skills needed to achieve their sales targets.
    • Monitor and manage sales performance for assigned regions, including Texas and other territories, ensuring growth in revenue and market share.
    • Create and execute strategies for key customer acquisition, retention, and upselling opportunities.
    • Provide regular feedback, training, and professional development opportunities for sales representatives.
  • Customer & Market Development:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including industrial emergency response organizations, safety, and fire departments.
    • Identify new customer segments and business opportunities, evaluating consumer needs and trends.
    • Work closely with internal departments (e.g., Marketing, Product, and Customer Service) to ensure customer satisfaction and service excellence.
    • Actively represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities to expand brand awareness and customer base.
  • Sales Performance & Reporting:
    • Track and report on team performance, sales goals, unit sales, and revenue, using CRM and other sales tools to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
    • Establish and monitor individual and team performance metrics, ensuring goals are met or exceeded.
    • Oversee the preparation of contracts, pricing strategies, and negotiations with high-value customers.
  • Product & Service Advocacy:
    • Lead the promotion of the company’s product offerings, with a focus on aligning solutions to customer needs and industry standards.
    • Ensure the sales team is equipped with up-to-date product knowledge and marketing materials to drive successful sales conversations.
    • Advocate for the company’s service offerings, including proactive engagement with service departments to enhance customer satisfaction and product/service reliability.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements in the sales process.
    • Oversee the scheduling and management of product demos and customer presentations.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Sales – Industrial Apparatus Services to define sales territories and accounts.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication:
    • Foster a collaborative team environment where cross-departmental communication is seamless and efficient.
    • Lead regular team meetings to review progress, identify challenges, and share best practices across regions.
    • Manage conflict resolution and address any operational or customer issues to ensure smooth sales operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of the sales team, including Sales Representatives and potentially other sales leadership roles.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating the performance of team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set individual goals for the team.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in sales, ideally in the industrial, safety, or emergency services sector.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies and leading high-performing teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and change management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to motivate a team and create a positive, high-performance work environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage cross-functional teams to meet company goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a sales leadership role with a proven track record of achieving sales growth and managing teams.
  • Industry-specific experience in fire and emergency services, safety equipment, or related sectors is a plus.
