OVERVIEW:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the engineering of complex, standard, and non-standard, transmission and distribution substations. The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in the development of cutting-edge electrical engineered solutions; they’re a technical leader, and mentor, who will serve as an advanced level resource. The ideal candidate will work independently and in a team environment utilizing their experience in electrical design and construction of substation, transmission, and distribution projects working with utility and primary service customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that electrical transmission, distribution, and renewable facilities are designed and engineered to meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety requirements
- Lead engineering and design activities for medium/high voltage substations, switchyards, distribution, and transmission systems projects
- Develop new and improve existing standards, templates, procedures, and guidelines to support continuous improvement within the department in support of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Provide direction, consultation, and support for internal and external customers on various projects
- Develop single-line, three-line, schematic, wiring, general arrangement, communications, SCADA, and layout drawings for medium/high voltage systems and equipment
- Prepare relay settings, coordination studies, load flow analysis, ground grid studies, arc flash reports, harmonics studies, MOPs, and any other required High Voltage Reports or Procedures
- Prepare electrical equipment specifications and evaluate electrical equipment submittals per customer requirements and applicable standards
- Review potential new projects and assist with scheduling, budgeting, and scoping
- Develop project kit bill of materials (BOMs)
- Provide support to field team members during the construction of facilities
- Perform in-process quality verification checks in accordance with the QMS
- Mentor, train, and oversee the work of less experienced team members
- Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, standards, and procedures of electrical power design, construction, materials, and equipment through contact with industry peers, professional journals and articles, professional memberships, and contact with suppliers for evaluation of new products
- Provide leadership to the Power team and assist with completing projects on schedule and budget
- Assist with product development, product warranty, and troubleshooting issues
- Communicate effectively with the customer, providing top-notch customer care and service
- Perform other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Senior Electrical Engineer spends most of their time in an office environment, but may occasionally spend time at the company’s manufacturing plant, or the project site. The office is an open and collaborative space where work is performed independently and with the team. When at the plant, the environment is that of a traditional manufacturing environment, with higher noise levels and frequent movement of people and equipment. When on-site, it’s a typical construction environment, often in high-voltage exposed areas like 12kV through 230kV substations, which may be in fairly remote rural locations, and where extreme weather conditions may be encountered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly sit, stand, and walk for long and short distances
- Required to hear with or without correction to be able to interpret and receive information and directions
- Regularly required to communicate: verbal and written, to describe and explain detailed, important, and accurate instructions
- Capability to push, pull, lift, reach, and carry at least 10 pounds, occasionally lifting/moving up to 35 lbs. with or without assistance
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Visual acuity with or without correction for reading documentation, analyzing data, and using electronic devices
- Use of fingers and hands for operating a computer or other electronic devices

This position reports to the Engineering Manager

LOCATION:
Construction Innovations facilities and offices are located in Sacramento, CA, and Mather, CA.
COMPENSATION:
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $123,350.00 - $204,150.00. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
