Description

Summary: Under general direction, performs a variety of professional librarian duties including providing information and assistance to customers of all ages; planning, scheduling, and presenting programs and/or services; performing reference, readers’ advisory services and bibliographic instruction; building relationships with community organizations; providing technology instruction; engaging in civic participation. This position will work with all age groups but will need to have a specific interest in working with young adults.

This position will be assigned to the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, which is located at 300 Park Ave., Oklahoma City, OK  73102.  

The hiring salary for this position is $24.52 hourly.  This is a half-time position working 20 hours per week.  This position is not exempt from the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.  This position may also assist in coverage at the Wright Library, located at 2101 Exchange Avenue in Oklahoma City.  The candidate should be available to work all hours the library is open, including some weekends and evenings.  This position currently requires the candidate to work one of two possible shifts: Saturday from 8:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 to 3:00 pm or a shift consisting of Friday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, Saturday from 8:00 to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm .*

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited college or university in Library and Information Science.

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Enthusiasm for public service and the ability to work well with a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in library services.
  • Experience building community partnerships.
  • Experience working with makerspace technologies.
