About the Department
This Hospital Nursing Department supports the mission, vision and values of Lakewood Health System. We are a 25 bed Critical Access hospital serving Medical, Surgical, and Swing Bed Patients and Families. Our team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Unit Coordinators and Nursing Assistants. The Hospital team provides a plan of care based on Provider instruction and Nursing Care Planning to meet patient goals providing optimal care for their health and safety to promote quality of life.

Duties & Responsibilities
A Summer Nurse Intern assists in providing patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and providers. Their duties include monitoring vital signs, administering medications as able, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring patient comfort. They also help with maintaining patient records, supporting daily nursing operations, and participating in educational activities to enhance their clinical skills. The role provides hands-on experience in a healthcare setting, helping interns develop both technical and interpersonal skills necessary for their nursing career.
