We are looking for a Data Engineering Director to join the Development team. They’re responsible for implementing data solutions for the firm.

Responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Data Infrastructure & Architecture – Lead the design and development of secure, scalable, and high-performance data systems, including but not limited to data pipelines, lakes, and warehouses.
  • Team Leadership – Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Pipeline & ETL Optimization – Lead the development and optimization of efficient data workflows and ETL processes.
  • Data Governance & Quality – Implement data governance policies to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance.
  • Reporting & Analytics – Ensure data infrastructure supports accurate reporting and analytics for the Business Intelligence team.
  • Emerging Technology Integration – Collaborate with the innovation team to explore, pilot, and implement emerging technologies that demonstrate business value.
  • Optimize Data Workflows – Continuously monitor and improve the scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency of data systems, while leveraging cloud-native tools and best practices to streamline operations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration – Work with data analysts and business teams to ensure alignment of data solutions with business needs.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve data engineering processes.

Qualifications

  • Have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Have 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least five of those years being in a leadership and/or managerial role.
  • Have strong experience with data architectures (lakes, pipelines, warehouses) and ETL processes.
  • Have strong experience in hands on data modelling and transformation
  • Have a proven track record of building and optimizing scalable, high-performance data systems.
  • Have a strong understanding of data governance principles, including but not limited to security, privacy, and compliance regulations.
  • Be proficient in SQL, Python, and data processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, Databricks).
  • Have strong experience with ETL/ELT tools and orchestration frameworks – Apache Airflow is a plus.
  • Have excellent leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Have strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical Stakeholders.
