The Conveyable Loader Intern position requires an associate to load cases onto a pallet and remove cases from the conveyors and palletize them to load them onto the truck.  Conveyable loader Interns must be able to move at a fast pace, reading labels and identifying routes while handling cases without breaking them.  He or she meets standard productivity goals daily and appropriately handles all materials following company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure workplace.  Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned according to the assigned workstation.

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school or vocational school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college
• Valid driver’s license for applicable state
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work on a daily basis
• Able to secure and maintain auto liability insurance for applicable state

Responsibilities

• Accurately read route numbers and truck numbers to ensure the correct truck is being loaded
• Accurately use United’s warehouse management system to make sure all cases are accounted for on the manifest
• Identify damages and safely clean up spills
• Operate a hand truck and operate a motorized pallet jack
• Safely operate conveyor line and properly shut it down in case of emergency
• Keep appropriate records to guarantee inventory control, rotation of stock, and security are maintained
• Assist with physical inventories as required
• Assist in other doors or areas when necessary or assigned
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Report in writing any safety or mechanical problems with the power equipment
• Conduct operations and maintain the facility in a neat, clean, orderly, and safe manner
• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements and Essential Functions

• Regular, reliable attendance required
• Able to frequently operate a pallet jack and/or forklift if assigned
• Able to stand and walk, reach with arms and hands, lift and carry, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel
• Able to perform greater than average lifting (50-65 lbs) with some overhead lifting required
• Must have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision and the ability to judge distance
