Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Oncology Billing Clerk to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for accurate posting of patient charges within the oncology department and physician hospital charges. Accurately adds all NDC numbers into hospital EMR for all drugs given in the oncology department. Works closely with the patient financial coordinators to maintain process of co-pay assistance claims holds. Works closely with denials specialists to help with clarifying and documentation in appeals process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Post all HCPCS & CPT codes into the patient accounts according to treatment that was received by the patient and performed by the oncology staff.
  2. Posts all hospital charges from all oncology providers.
  3. Adds NDC numbers in Cerner on all oncology drugs.
  4. Places billing holds and releases on encounters for patients receiving copay assistance cards as referenced by the copay tracker.
  5. Maintains department records, reports and files as required for auditing purposes.
  6. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings and all other meetings as required.
  7. May assist with setting up financial arrangements when necessary.
  8. Answers inquiries regarding patient accounts.
  9. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  10. Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code.
  11. Must maintain a professional attitude.
  12. Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
  13. Attends all other meetings as required.
  14. Responsible for knowing hospital/clinic policies and being familiar with hospital services.
  15. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
