Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Nurse Assistant to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:  The wound Care/HBO Assistant (WCA) or nurse assistant (NA) is accountable for assuring the provision of quality wound care/HBO to all patients within his/her scope of practice.  The Hyperbaric Assistant ensures that the patients’ physical and psychosocial needs are met in the clinic; all patients care is documented according to policy.  This position is responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating quality patient care and within his/her scope pf practice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implements and evaluates quality patient care that is consistent with the established policies and procedures of the clinic.
  2. Competently helps treat wounds of the following categories as directed by the Nurse or Wound Specialist: Venous, Arterial, Diabetic, Burns, Surgical, Neuropathic, Traumatic, Bacterial, Viral and Fungal.
  3. Assists with pre and post hyperbaric patients to ensure all documented Vital signs are completed prior to the patient entering the chamber or leaving the facility.
  4. Tracks and conducts TCOMS per MVH Advanced Wound/Hyperbaric policies.
  5. Assist the HBO Techs and manager to review charts and address needs for potential HBO patients by gathering needed data.  
  6. Is knowledgeable of the age specific attributes of the patients presenting for care.
  7. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain.  Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  8. Is responsible for making wound care/HBO decisions within his/her scope of practice (as described by licensure and/or hospital policy) relating to patient care and performing other duties and functions that include, but are not limited to those described.  
  9. Utilizes effective human relations and communication skills when interfacing with physicians, practitioners, patients/families/significant others and takes positive action to resolves patient care problems.  Promotes excellence in customer/quest/staff/professional relations.  
  10. Conduct reflects the mission, vision and guiding principles of Mountain View Hospital and the Advance Care and Hyperbaric Center.  
  11. Agrees to abide by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).  
  12. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: BLS certification and renewal as required.

Experience: Preferred, but not required

Equipment/Technology:  Has the ability to successfully and competently utilize computer software for operation of department.

Language/Communication:  Has the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format.

Mathematical Skills:  Average

Mental Capabilities:  Able to exercise independent judgment with attention to detail.  Must have the ability to concentrate for long periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks with a better than average attention span, in order to listen, read and remember verbal and written instructions.  Can understand input from the director concerning errors and instructions.

Performance:  Able to deal with difficult client situations and emergencies in a calm and professional manner.  Must be able to handle conflict issues with both patients and staff.  Able to maintain confidentiality.
