Description

Informatics is dedicated to delivering high quality patient care through efficient management of data and technical systems. The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for the assessment, planning, training, implementation, evaluation and optimization of nursing informatics projects. She/he serves as the primary interface between nursing, patient care services, Clinical Engineering and Information Services to ensure multi- and interdisciplinary project coordination. She/he also participates in communications and project planning regarding system implementation and integration with other MVH initiatives. She/he is knowledgeable about the nursing process and nursing practice, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement. The nursing informatics projects are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible nursing care.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Will consider relevant clinical expertise.

 

Experience: 1 year minimum clinical experience. Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.

 

Equipment/Technology: Working knowledge of EHR systems. Basic computer functions and programs.

 

Language/Communication:Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for highly complex patients. Excellent analytic skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Mental Capabilities: Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice. Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies. Knowledge of current literature that impacts technology/information needs.
