Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Insurance Follow-Up Clerk to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:       

Performs all duties related to the collection of accounts receivable. Establishes payment arrangements with patients in order to collect on accounts and is also responsible for maintaining patient accounts from the time they are billed until payment is received.  Notes every account worked.   Assists billing clerks with additional duties as assigned. Files all insurance according to State and Federal guidelines. Assures that insurance aging is worked in a timely manner all aged accounts are checked every account is noted as to the follow-up done in patient notes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collects delinquent accounts, and follows up to ensure that delinquent accounts are being paid.
  2. Files all insurance when needed if insurance did not receive the first time: Blue Cross, Blue Shield and all commercial payers.
  3. Maintains department records, reports and files as required.
  4. When necessary, sets up financial arrangements.  Maintains follow-up on accounts to ensure prompt payment.
  5. Follow-up with insurance companies to achieve prompt and accurate payments.
  6. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings and all other meetings as required.
  7. Answers inquiries regarding patient accounts.
  8. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  9. Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services.
  10. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
  11. Maintains patient confidentially at all times.
  12. Notes every patient account that is followed up with action taken at the time.
  13. Works aged trial balance for all outstanding unpaid insurance accounts.
  14. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience:  One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   

Equipment/Technology:  Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

Language/Communication:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Mental Capabilities:  Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Interpersonal:  Ability to work well with others.
