Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:  Administer specialized care to patients through intravenous (IV) therapy, injections, and other methods. Work closely with a team of healthcare providers to administer medications, monitor patients’ response to treatment, and ensure their overall well-being. Must be proficient in IV insertions and PICC line management. Must provide good customer service in all forms of patient interaction. Must follow established protocols and procedures with exacting precision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare and administer IV medications and therapies following established protocols and guidelines. This includes calculating dosages, selecting appropriate IV sites, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatments.  
  2. Closely monitor patients during IV therapy, assessing vital signs, observing for any adverse reactions, and promptly intervening if necessary.
  3. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all aspects of patient care, including medication administration, vital signs, and any interventions or observations made during the infusion treatment while maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information.
  4. Collaborate with Providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients. This includes reviewing patient medical histories, and providing input on the patient’s response to treatment.
  5. Provide education to patients on the purpose of IV therapy, potential side effects, and self-care techniques to promote optimal health and well-being.
  6. Follow all established regulatory guidelines and standards, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for IV procedures, and proper functioning and cleanliness of IV equipment and supplies.
  7. Maintain supply inventory, anticipate and order needed supplies, and verify receipt of supplies.
  8. Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations, guidelines, best practices, and developments related to IV therapy and nursing practices.
  9. Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and other forms of communication.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a RN in the state of Idaho. Strong understanding of pharmacology. Current BLS and ALCS Certification.

Experience: Required to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide competent care appropriate to the age of patient served. Must possess excellent clinical skills including demonstrated skill in establishing IVs and knowledge of IV therapy.    

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge and skills. Experience with medical equipment used to obtain vitals, computer systems to enter data and process information.   

Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.

Mathematical Skills: General math skills. 

Mental Capabilities: Can regularly and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, attentive to details, critical thinker. Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and handle stressful situations.

Interpersonal: Good communication skills, able and comfortable to collaborate with others, including providers, patients, other medical support staff, to accomplish tasks.

Performance: Work well with deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent customer service skills.
