Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Informatics Educator to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY: Informatics is dedicated to delivering high quality patient care through efficient management of data and technical systems. The Informatics Educator is responsible for training in all aspects of documentation in the EHR by end users, including but not limited to registration, scheduling, ambulatory clinics, hospital inpatient nursing and ancillaries and Emergency medicine. Training includes set up and scheduling of in person and online classes, maintaining and creating curriculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Informatics Educator

A. Coordinates system parameters and project designs with the POC manager, project teams, and/or vendors.
B. Provides program management for informatics projects including but not limited to:
a. Assesses unit and department technology needs.
i. Coordinates orientation classes at implementation.
ii. Provides ongoing end user education.
iii. Works with the appropriate department teams and directors to confirm
staff involvement and competency for projects as appropriate.
iv. Role models leadership behaviors that demonstrate specific professional values and commitment to advanced practice.
C. Facilitates a safe practice environment for interdisciplinary team members use of technology.
a. Establishes collaborative relationships with other members of the health care team for effective interdisciplinary care.
D. Improve and innovate the use of technology within clinical practice and workflows.
E. Manages resources effectively to achieve identified project objectives and expected outcomes.
F. Participates in the production and distribution of communications related to technology.
G. Contributes to the development of Informatics practice and the education of the application of clinical technology.

Professional Development/Effectiveness
A. Evaluates own professional practice to maintain self and department at a high level.
a. Identifies professional strengths and areas for growth and demonstrates professional development through formal and informal learning experiences.
b. Maintains knowledge of current trends and practices in health care through networking and other resources.
c. Participates in professional organizations in areas of specialization and interest.
d. Serves as a mentor to staff, assisting them in professional self-development activities.
e. Obtains or maintains an appropriate professional nursing certification, if applicable.

F. Maintains accurate and timely documentation regarding product/service evaluations, system assessment and evaluations and implementation plans.
G. Contributes to the timely and successful resolution of operational problems identified.
H. Completion of other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School Diploma required, with relevant clinical expertise.

 

Experience: 2 years in education or clinical setting.

 

Equipment/Technology: Working knowledge of EHR systems. Basic computer functions and programs.

 

Performance: Requires strong oral and written communication and presentation skills. Requires understanding of organization-wide processes. Requires ability to work independently and with groups/teams as both project leader and team member. Requires attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information.

 

Language/Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for highly complex patients. Excellent analytic skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.



Mental Capabilities: Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice. Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies. Knowledge of current literature that impacts technology/information needs.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts to calculate and run appropriate Meaningful Use Reports and present that data as a basis of supporting Meaningful Use Rules and Guidelines.

 

Interpersonal: Excellent customer service skills. Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department managers, Physicians, and employees.

 

Performance: To perform necessary duties and responsibilities as listed below. Willing to travel on occasions for job training. Applicant must be organized, detail-oriented, and patient. Ability to make critical decisions.
