Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Customer Service Representative to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all duties related to the collection of accounts receivable for Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital. Establishes payment arrangements with patients in order to collect on accounts. Answers incoming phone calls for billing department and assists patients who have services rendered at a variety of locations and does everything possible to give patients a great experience with the hospital(s) billing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  1. Collects delinquent accounts, establishes payment arrangements with patients, and follows up to ensure that delinquent accounts are being paid.
  2. Evaluates unpaid accounts. Works with collection agency and small-claims court action accounts.
  3. Handles all bankruptcy accounts.
  4. Follows phone etiquette policy at all times. Ensures patient feel heard, understood and follows through on all patient needs. Excellent Customer Service skills a must.
  5. Answers incoming calls from patients and other departments with inquiries regarding Patient accounts.
  6. Sets up all payment arrangement on accounts and monitors them to make sure they are paying as agreed.
  7. Works on payment arrangements with self-paying accounts that are overdue. Types and mails collection letters and review accounts on a scheduled basis. Telephones those who do not respond to letters. Records all transactions and correspondence on account.
  8. Records payments received on account and notifies collection agency of amounts received.
  9. Prepares bad debt report to send to outside agency.
  10. Handles all medical liens.
  11. Handles all patient financial applications on patient applying for hospital assistance; mails approval or denial letters.
  12. Accepts and completes other duties assigned.
  13. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
  14. Acts like an owner; pulls own weight; works to achieve individual, department and hospital goals. Fully accountable, owns problems until solved.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

 

Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience.

 

Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

 

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

Mental Capabilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
