Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission and discharge of outpatient appointments, testing and procedures. Schedules provider appointment and maintains EMR system. Ensures that the patient’s information is collected, and enter in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of clinic & hospital policies and procedures. Answers phones and provides answers to basic questions as needed. Processes incoming and outgoing referrals, faxes, and correspondence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Receptionist:

  1. 1. Responsible for pre-registering patients for scheduled appointments and outpatient procedures, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
    2. Responsible for obtaining signature on Consent Forms and ABNs.
    3. Schedules provider appointments and maintains EMR system records.
    4. Processes all incoming referrals, faxes and record requests and ensures documents are scanned into EMR records.
    5. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the manager, medical assistants, coworkers, and providers.
    6. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
    7. Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
    8. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
    9. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
    10. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
    11. Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends
    in-service meetings as required.
    12. Attends all other meetings as required.
    13. Always maintains patient confidentiality.
    14. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
    15. Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to hospital policy.
    16. Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
    17. Must maintain a professional attitude.
    18. Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code.
    19. Responsible admitting walk-in patients according to EMTALA guidelines.

Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system and operate basic computer functions and software.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively, before groups of customers and or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Mental Capabilities:Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Interpersonal:  Ability to work well with others.
