Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist and provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. He/she communicates with providers/nurse manager/co-workers as appropriate, about changes in patients clinical including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition of symptomatology. The MA may also have inventory/ordering responsibilities in addition to clinical responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides basic nursing care that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and communication needs within the nursing assistants scope of practice.
  2. Work under direct supervision of MD, PA-C, NP to provide excellent patient care to all clients.
  3. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
  4. Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age.
  5. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain or vital signs that are less than or greater then acceptable ranges.
  6. Documents patients vital signs appropriately in the patients chart.
  7. Demonstrates ability to communicate to the physician any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric,
  8. Geriatric and general patient population.
  9. Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answers questions within scope of practice.
  10. Communicates appropriately and clearly to nurse, co-workers and physicians.
  11. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  12. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
  13. Prepares charts and gathers test results prior to the patient’s appointment.
  14. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient family in the formation of the plan of care.
  15. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  16. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural and ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
  17. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat, clean and within facility standards.
  18. Completes annual education requirement.
  19. Maintains patient confidentially at all times.
  20. Reports to work on time when scheduled and completes work within designated times.
  21. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  22. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
  23. Attends at least 85% of staff meetings annually; read all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  24. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  25. Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
  26. Completes in-services and returns in a timely manner.
  27. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
  28. Required to check emails and be responsible for its content at least once per week.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent. Current BLS.

 

Experience: Experience as a medical assistant.

 

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer and typing skills. Operate vital sign monitoring devices and manual B/P equipment.

 

Language/Communication: Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.

 

Mathematical Skills: Basic math.

 

Mental Capabilities: Can concentrate for long periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks with a better than average attention span in order to listen, read, and remember verbal and written instructions. Can understand and input from the supervisor and/or manager concerning errors and instructions.

 

Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.

 

Performance: Carry out necessary duties and responsibilities as described below.
