Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant / Certified Medical Assistant / Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team!

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant/CMA or CNA assists providers in care, medical record documentation, and treatment so patients can receive quality care. Obtain and process doctors orders. Provide good customer service on the phone, or with patients, doctors and other medical staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job title: Medical Assistant

  1. Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone.
  2. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
  3. Prepares patients for health care visit by directing and or accompanying them to the exam room; provides examination gowns or shorts; assists them to position themselves, arranges exam room, instruments, supplies and equipment.
  4. Ensure all related reports, labs and imaging are available in patient’s records prior to visit.
  5. Supports patient care by assisting providers during exam; draws up medications for injections; completes records by recording examination, treatment and test results. Relays treatment plan to checkout receptionist.
  6. Keeps exam room and injection station supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
  7. Ensure that patients receive appropriate competent and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient’s expectation.
  8. Adherence by staff to all policy and procedures.
  9. Provides age appropriate care.
  10. Reporting monitoring and management of patient and staff incidents.
  11. Monitoring and management of patient and physician satisfaction results.
  12. Follows standards precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Knowledge and performance of sterile tech.
  13. Maintains strict quality control for procedures.
  14. Scanning orders and lab results into electronic medical system, print and fax lab reports to ordering doctor.
  15. Maintains Point of Care documents and performs Quality Control management.
  16. Orients and mentors new staff members.
  17. Shows good customer service on phone and in person to anyone that enters the laboratory.
  18. Performs miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations.
  19. Other duties as assigned by office manager as necessary.

The Certified Nursing Assistant:

  1. Assists in the care of assigned patients as directed by appropriate nursing staff. 
  2. Obtain admission Vital signs/discharge Vital signs and verify patient signatures.
  3. Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified by the center.
  4. Performs his/her duties in accordance with the job requirements.
  5. Understand the protocol for responding to emergency situations and the importance of remaining calm in this situation.
  6. Participates in staff meetings, in-service programs and education requirements as appropriate.
  7. Communicates all pertinent information, including findings, problems, concerns or ideas to the assigned nurse, utilizing appropriate lines of authority, in a timely and effective manner.
  8. Seeks guidance and assistance from the assigned nurse when knowledge base and skill level is in question.
  9. Maintains standards to provide safe, effective care to the patients.
  10. Performs efficiently when putting charts together, stocking/cleaning rooms, stocking linens, recording temperatures on fridge/blanket warmer and assisting with patient care.
  11. Assist LPN or RN in Discharging of Patients, which may include, but not limited to, verifying Patient has a stable gate, written discharge instructions given to the patient, and verification of patient not driving self home.
  12. Works as a part of the team in delivering patient care.
  13. Is flexible and willing to assist with other duties on the unit.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduation from an accredited High school program or higher. Certificate of training for Nurse’s Aide.  Current BLS.  Valid driver’s license.

 

Experience: CMA course preferred, not required. Preferable, but not mandatory, 6 months of PACU/Medical Surgical.

 

Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment, required.

 

Language/Communication: The ability to read and communicate effectively in English thus assuring effective communication with all hospital staff, medical staff, patients and their families by providing and maintaining open lines of communication. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.

 

Mathematical Skills: General Math skills.

 

Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker. Must be able to understand input from the supervisor and/or manager concerning errors and instructions.  Will need a better than average attention span in order to listen, read and remember verbal and written instructions.  The ability to concentrate for long periods of time.

 

Interpersonal: Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Team player and flexible.

 

Performance: Can work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines. Good customer service skills. Can recognize and understand the complexity and reflex-testing of laboratory complexity. Basic computer knowledge along with basic knowledge of CPSI and patient scheduling.  Must be able to handle/defuse conflict issues with patients, their families and staff.
