Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Laboratory Receptionist to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY: Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. Ensures that the patient’s information is collected, entered in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of Sleep Specialists policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer. Distributes appropriate information to all ancillary departments. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure patients are registered at Admissions for outpatient testing and procedures. Admissions will be obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information, and obtaining signature on MSE and Condition of Admission forms.
  2. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  3. Faxes patient results and checks the fax log regularly throughout the day to ensure all outgoing faxes were successful.  Resend any failed faxes.
  4. Scan orders and results into patient charts.
  5. Assist with supply inventory and ordering.
  6. Keep track of patient orders in the filing system in an organized fashion.  Review monthly for expired orders and duplications.
  7. Input patient orders in to HIS and print specimen labels.
  8. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  9. Responsible for knowing laboratory policies and being familiar with laboratory services that are available.
  10. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  11. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
  12. Maintains a good working relationship with in the department and with other departments.
  13. Participates in the educational programs, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
  14. Attends all meetings as required.
  15. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  16. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
  17. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
  18. Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to Mountain View Hospital policy.
  19.  Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner. Generate tickets in lab ticketing system. Assist in answering FAQs using flow charts provided. Direct calls to the appropriate area within the lab. 
  20. Must maintain a professional attitude.
  21. Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code. Hair color, piercings and tattoos must be in accordance with Mountain View Hospital policy.  
  22. Duties as deemed necessary to ensure smooth laboratory operations.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or higher. Current BLS Certification. Valid driver’s license.

 

Experience: One to three month's related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

 

Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

 

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and or employees of the organization. Must understand medical terminology.

 

Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.



Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Be a team player and flexible.

 

Performance: Can work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines. Good customer service skills. Can recognize and understand the complexity and reflex-testing of laboratory complexity.
