Description

 

  1. Responsible for medical care for all patients that come to the clinic (directly and indirectly).

 

  1. Provides advice and recommendations on administrative matters to the Program Director.

 

  1. Supervises clinical activities of the wound care team, including (contractual practitioners, nurses, wound-care technicians, and hyperbaric oxygen technicians.

 

  1. Evaluates professional performance of the clinical staff as requested by the Program Director.

 

  1. Develops and conducts speaking engagements for physicians, health care or community groups on issues pertaining to wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

 

  1. Actively and directly supports the Wound Care/HBO staff activities, both formally and informally.

 

  1. Recommends purchases to the Program Director.

 

  1. Has a responsibility for quality assurance within the clinic.

 

  1. Recommends disciplinary action in accordance with official Hospital policies and procedures.

 

  1. Responsible for content of medical records, accuracy, Diagnosis, etc.

 

  1. Provides and arranges professional education activities.

 

  1.    Performs case management no less than once weekly with Medical Director and      

   attends all case management meetings for the department.

 

  1.    Evaluate and treat patients for issues pertaining to this Sub Specialty Clinic.

 

 

  1. Perform procedures such as laceration repairs, total contact casting for off loading, cyst or toenail excision, abcess incision and drainage, treatment of osteomyolitis, venous stasis, crush injuries, acute & chronic ulcers & wounds, graphs, etc.

 

  1. Evaluate and provide appropriate stabilization for patients with acute serious medical conditions or injuries and facilitate transfer as appropriate to an emergency facility or hospital.

 

  1. Evaluate, treat and provide follow-up care of patients with work-related injuries, requesting referral when appropriate.

 

17.    Interact with office, laboratory, radiology, and nursing staff as part of the patient care process.

 

18.    Perform required quality assurance steps in the patient care process.

 

19.    Interpret laboratory, radiology, EKG and basic pulmonary function tests.

 

20.    Thoroughly and accurately document every patient encounter.

 

21.    Bill appropriately for each patient care visit.

 

22.    Handle all patient evaluations and transfers in compliance with federal EMTALA regulations.

 

23.    Interface, as appropriate and necessary, with providers and medical personnel within and outside of Mountain View Hospital whenever necessary to ensure good patient care.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:  Licensed Practitioner with State Board of Medicine. Credentials in Hyperbaric Medicine with advanced education and experience in Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine.  He/she is a credentialed member of the hospital medical staff.

 

Experience:  Active interest and experience in moderate to serious chronic and acute wounds.

 

Equipment/Technology:  Knowledge and interpretation skills of all equipment used in the clinic.

 

Language/Communication:  Communicate well with staff, patients, family members, and able to consultant by phone, letters, chart notes, etc.  Knowledge of and willingness to perform marketing and public relations as requested by Program Director.

 

Interpersonal:  Ability to communicate well and inspire trust when encountering individuals of all cultures, levels of education and all walks of life
